The collection of contemporary jewelry is inspired by motion itself, by the impulse for start, action, changes, and laces as symbol of all this. With this collection the designer asks the question: when does the accessory (fashion supplement) stop being a supplement and takes over the leading role in the fashion expression?
From this logic derives the title of the collection – ‘Crossover’, bridging, passover in the sense of crossing over fashion accessories with another fashion category and with the aim of displacing the borders of jewelry as a fashion accessory. The pieces of jewelry are interactive, can be redesigned, assembled, disassembled and worn in various ways and variants. The color-range of the collection follows the trend of neon colors in fashion.
It consists of 25 handmade pieces of jewelry: necklaces, double necklaces, braces, ear rings and sets.
This collection has been made out of combined materials, but dominating are shoe laces in various colors and combinations.
This project is somewhat of an experiment with the limits of what an accessory means. The following questions are to be answered: when does the accessory (fashion supplement) stop being a supplement and takes over the leading role in the fashion expression?
How much is the subject him/herself able to intervene in terms of design and application?
Earrings can be bracelets; necklaces can be a decorative shawl etc. Jewelry is multifunctional and fits in with most fashion styles and is exclusively exceptionally convenient for experimenting with one’s looks.
